Let the Travel Begin

Wednesday, January 17, 2007

I took a oicture of this because that's where my dad started his carreer in the Air Force...the US Army Air Corps...They had many many things...memorabilia, pictures and artifacts from the First World War on up through Desert Storm...it was very intersting...

I am so proud of the individuals in our family that have served our country n the Military forces...and when you go to the museums like these you really see the sacrifices that are made on our behalf...

We all were amazed by this plane the "Black Bird"...still to this day it is the fastest plane in the air and it was manufactured in 70s...

This is just a picture taken of the Air Control Tower...across the base from where the Museum is...it was a very large Air Force Base...In a beautiful setting...there not many beautiful settings here in the desert of CA...But this one with the mountains behind it was pretty nice...As we sat here on a small set of bleachers we wished that they were having an air show...we had the best seats in the house, "so-to-speak"! Posted by Picasa

    Charlie,

Really enjoyed your photos of March. I lived in Riverside from the early 50's to 1964 right off the end of the runway and remember the launches of first the B-47's and later the B-52's and KC-135's. They were not at all quiet, but it was amazing how we learned to ignore the racket. I also spent a lot of time in Hemet at the cattle auction with my grandfather who had a large ranch up above San Jacinto. You bring up a lot of good memories for me.

We look forward to meeting you tomorrow in Blythe!!

    Safe travels,

    Soon to be in Q,

    Gordon and Juanita
