Let the Travel Begin

Well...here we are back where we started in Astoria...the KOA in Hammond, OR Right across the street from Ft. Stevens. When we got here we plugged into the 50AMP service and everything worked except the things that are run by our 12volt system: Which is the compressor that produces the air for the floor slide, and the toilet...now the floor slide is no problem...we only use that while we are gong down the road...so I don't fall and break... my neck getting in and out of my "Navigator Chair", then there is the overhead florscent lights in the Living, dinning, bath & bedroom...we do hace lights...the lights that are on the wall in the Livingroom, and in the bedroom. Mike rewired a cord to make one of the bathroom workable ... handy little guy he is!!! He Jerry-rigged a system to produce the air for the toilet as well. We thought we were safe whle he worked on getting the 12volt system working...So much for thinkin...On Sunday...now remember...the rain started on Wednesday the 1st. of November...that is the day we moved over here, and it is still raining and much more is expected plus 60 to 70 mile an hour winds...so we go grocery shopping...in the rain and wind...had to...we had been putting it off for a long time...with all that beautiful weather we were having who would have expected the storms that we have had in just a little over a week...I think we got 13 inches in just Sunday night and Monday...well when we got home from shopping and both used the "necessary" room, put away the groceries and finnished watching the NASCAR race...then Mike went back to the "necessary" room again...from the back of the coach, I hear: We have a problem...we have a problem...so I go running...and all of a sudden...when I hit the hall carpet I knew the problem...we had had a flood...not from the rain...from the toilet...it seems that the last time we flushed the toilet...which was clean, by-the-way (thank God) the flap stayed open and the water kept running until it filled up the whole tank and ran over and flooded the carpet in the bathroon, the hall and our bedroom...it is raining outside so hard that you cant even think it is so loud in the coach...the wind is blowing so hard it is making me sea-sick with the way it is moving the coach. Now we have a real problem...so all the towels and whatever we could find be came soakers or water...there was just too much water...Now we almost lost the victory...the batteries were still not all fixed yet and now this...we didn't even have the heaters that we noamaly have because tof them are run by the 12volt system too...It wasn't cold. But we wanted to dry up some of the water and moisture that was increasing rapidly inside the coach...no help from to out side...so Monday afternoon we decided to cut the carpet out of the coach...that Mike did...and when we got all the wet carpet and the wet towels, etc. outta here things started getting better... The moisture level started going down and we were able to relax a bit...yesterday we went to see my favorite man...besides Mike that is..."ROSS", and as usual we were able to find runners...that matched for the hall and the bedroom, and some nice rugs for the bathroon...this will do 'till we have brains enough and dry climate enough to get the floors re-done...Then the toilet quit working at all...the batteries are still being charged...hopefully this evening we will have the verdict on the last three that he has now...pray we don't have to purchase more than the one that we already know about...Like I saud before thewse critters are very expensive...The sad thing is that they are fairly new batteries...Oh Well, so goes life...

Today Mike is taking up our bed and seeing if he needs to remove the carpet from underneath it...we are pretty sure that we will...I guess these are the things that memories are made of...believe me I sure would be happier just remembering sunsets, if-you-please! Posted by Picasa

Next to an os water leak getting inside, the potty is the worst that can happen. its that the tank contents are never gone. yep, replace all the soiled carped, etc and start new.
